About Academix

Academix Academy offers two large mat areas, work-out/fitness area, and front desk reception. Waiting room equipped with couches, reading material, and television. Change rooms for both men and women each with showers, and free parking available on site. At Academix Martial Arts and Fitness, we make it our priority to help you accomplish all of your fitness goals. Providing a reliable training environment that is clean and safe making sure all students progress to the next level! In our new facility, our instructors personalize every class to meet the needs of each individual. Our classes or one-on-one training will help you build confidence, develop a positive attitude, and instill lessons that are applicable in every aspect of your life. Men, women, and children as young as 4 yrs. old can all benefit greatly from beginning their journey at our academy, located conveniently on Fairview Street in Burlington, Ontario.

Our Programs

Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art focusing largely on grappling and ground fighting. It focuses on the principles of leverage and proper technique to obtain dominant control on the ground, and provides a greater position to resolve conflict by using submission holds. BJJ has been proven, when used properly, to be an effective method for dealing with bigger and stronger opponents and has become increasingly popular due to its great success in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). A student can train in BJJ for self-defense, sport jiu-jitsu (and submission grappling) and mixed martial arts competition. It has found its way into the training regiment of nearly every successful martial artist worldwide.


Wrestling is an ancient martial art in which participants apply the use of grappling techniques such as clinch fighting, throws, takedowns, joint-locks and pins to establish and maintain a superior and dominant position on their opponent.  Different from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the “striking martial arts” such as boxing and kickboxing, wrestling involves techniques that can be applied in either standing or ground fighting positions.  Wrestlers are primarily known for their great strength and explosive power that allows them to successfully subdue even the most skilled opponents.  Wrestling is great for anyone who wants to build strength and increase cardiovascular endurance while at the same time learn practical martial arts techniques.  –“ xtremecouture”

Hatha Yoga

The word Yoga comes from the ancient Samskrutam language and roughly translates as Union; it is the union of the body, mind and soul. As these three aspects of our selves come into harmony, a tremendous sense of inner peace begins to arise within you. This peace is the foundation of health and happiness. “The aim of Yoga is to calm the chaos of conflicting impulses” – “BKS Iyengar”

Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai

During class the 3 main focuses: 1.Thai pad training which involves practicing punches, kicks, knees, and elbow strikes with a trainer wearing thick pads which cover the forearms and hands. These special pads are used to absorb the impact of the fighter’s strikes and allow the fighter to react to the attacks of the pad holder. 2.Heavy bag training is a conditioning and power exercise that reinforces the techniques practiced on the pads. 3.Sparring is a means to test technique, skills, range, strategy, and timing against a partner. Academix offers qualified professional trainers that will work one on one with you, picking a scheduled time, and adjusted workouts that target your personal goals, choosing either 60/30 minute sessions, 2-4 times a week.
